Former NIB director has nine-year disqualification overturned
A former executive director of National Irish Bank has had a nine-year disqualification order overturned by the Supreme Court.
The now retired Barry Seymour of Amersham in England appealed against a 2007 High Court decision finding him unfit to hold a management position.
He was penalised for being in a senior position during the 1990s at a time of serious irregularities in NIB such as the scandal of bogus non-resident accounts.
The Supreme Court has ruled his failings did not warrant disqualification and it has instead ordered that he be restricted for five years.
