Shell to halt Syria oil operations
Oil giant Shell has said it will stop operations in Syria in order to comply with EU sanctions against the country.
It comes after the UN Human Rights Council strongly condemned the violence and promised to appoint a special investigator.
The European Union tightened measures against President Bashar al Assad's government on Thursday, in response to the continuing crackdown against protesters.
Yesterday the US Senate agreed to join EU Foreign Ministers in imposing the sanctions.
