Minister names ex-Small Business Forum chairman to business body
Former Small Business Forum chairman James O’Sullivan has been appointed by the Government to a high-powered business oversight body.
O’Sullivan – a director of Cork firm M&P O’Sullivan wholesalers – was nominated by Minister John Perry to serve on the High Level Group on Business Regulation (HGBR).
The group is charged with helping to improve business regulations and streamline legislation to improve both the efficiency and ability of Irish business to comply with regulation.
Mr O’Sullivan was nominated to the HGBR having previously served as president of the Cork Business Association (CBA).
“This is a great honour and I am delighted to have been asked to serve on this very important group,” Mr O’Sullivan said.
The work of the HGBR is expected to prove particularly important given the challenging environment currently facing the Irish economy.
Mr O’Sullivan, as well as being a director of the family firm, is a former president and current director of the CBA.
He has also served as a former chairman of the Irish Grocers’ Benevolent Fund (IGBF) in the southern region.
Mr O’Sullivan remains on the audit committee of Cork City Council and last year completed a high-profile term as the District Governor of the Lions Club of Ireland.
