An Irish company, which is a world leader in the provision of technology to broadband operators, has won a major new contract in South Africa.

Azotel Technologies which is headquartered in Blackpool Business Park, Cork city, and with offices in the UK, the US, Canada, Poland and South Africa, has secured the deal for the supply of its technology to Wirulink Pty Ltd, providers of affordable and fast wireless telephone and data services to corporate, commercial and home users.

The deal is for the supply of the Cork company’s SIMPler platform suite of products to the leading edge company.

Minister for Trade and Development Jan O’Sullivan leading an Enterprise Ireland organised trade mission to the country, announced the deal today. It will be worth €3m to the Cork company over the next two years alone.

The Cork supplied technology will manage Wirulink’s entire customer base.

Azotel chief executive John O’Hare said they were delighted to have secured the contract with such a prestigious firm with the help of leading distribution firm in South Africa Multisource.

They looked forward to the opportunity of helping Wirulink excel at delivering quality services to their clients and the rapid growth of their business, following in the same path as existing operators who had chosen the SIMPLer platform.

The inking of the deal is the latest success story for the company in providing technology network management solutions which enable internet service providers improve their business operations, services and profitability.

SIMPLer is a full-featured service provider management platform, used to manage single or multiple internet service provider (ISP) businesses from sign-up to disconnect.

Riann Maree, Wirulink founder and executive director, said they had been very impressed by Azotel’s investment in research and development in the SIMPler platform.

This would ensure growth for both Azotel and themselves.

Ms O’Sullivan said that the Cork company’s success in winning the contract confirmed that Irish companies were successfully carving out a strong reputation in South Africa for the highest standards of excellence in innovation, quality and service.

“This is a fast growing market with major potential for ambitious and innovative Irish companies like Azotel. Enterprise Ireland is working with them in the region to expand their networks and win new export sales.”
