Festive cheer will be lacking in more than half of Irish offices this year, according to a survey by Peninsula Ireland.

Their survey shows 51% of employers are scrapping the Christmas party, because it is too expensive.

Up to 72% of managers questioned say in the past, parties have led to staff complaints about colleagues' drunken behaviour.

However, 82% of workers feel it is wrong for employers to axe the event.
