Geithner to attend Euro finance meeting

European Finance Ministers will meet in Poland today to discuss the eurozone crisis.

The US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner is to attend the meeting.

It is expected he will urge ministers to intensify their efforts to stop the crisis from spreading to the wider economy.

On the agenda will be the possibility of using the European Financial Stability Fund in a similar way to an emergency loan fund created by the US Treasury and the Federal Reserve in 2008 to thaw frozen credit markets.
