The ISEQ index of Irish shares closed up 49.81 points to 2,467.51, a rise of 2.06%.
Among the risers, Smurfit Kappa was up 46c or 10.68% to €4.78; CRH added 56c to €11.16; Elan Corp was up 30c to €7.20; Tullow Oil added 22c to €16.23 and Paddy Power was up 30c to €36.90.
