Gatwick reports strong profits despite fall in passenger numbers

In the UK, the owners of Gatwick Airport have reported an operating profit of more than £95m (€106.7m).

But new figures looking at the last financial year also show that passenger numbers fell by 2%.

The airport is blaming disruption caused by the Icelandic volcanic ash cloud.
