EMI ponders sale or market listing
Beatles to Coldplay music company EMI Group tonight said it had launched a strategic review into the future of the business and will consider a sale or potential stock market listing.
The company – which is split into two divisions, recording and publishing - insisted there was no assurance the review would result in a transaction.
Earlier this year, investment bank Citigroup seized full control of the company from financier Guy Hands, whose private equity vehicle Terra Firm bought EMI in 2007 for £4.2bn.
