UK mobile giants to develop payment product

The UK’s four biggest mobile phone brands plan to work together to develop new technology, including systems that allow consumers to use their mobile phones to pay for products in shops.

O2, Vodafone and Everything Everywhere, which owns T-Mobile and Orange, hope to launch the joint-venture by the end of the year, if it receives competition clearance.
