Report points to positive jobs outlook in engineering
Industry experts are today insisting that there jobs are available in engineering.
A new report by the Institutes of Technology states that there are currently 1,200 vacancies for honours graduates, mostly in the pharmaceutical, biomedical, information, communications technology sectors.
The authors of this report also point out that the problem-solving skills engineers possess are easily transferable, and much-needed in developing sectors like renewable energy.
"In terms of their technical and practical engineering qualifications they're very well prepared," said Mike Murphy, director and dean of the College of Engineering and Built Environment.
"Employers see them as well prepared, the graduates themselves see them as well prepared."
