ISEQ on the up

The ISEQ index of Irish shares enjoyed a 22.57-point gain to 2.906.67 by close of business today.

In the financial sector, both Allied Irish Banks and Bank of Ireland remained unchanged at 17c and 12c respectively. Irish Life and Permanent inched up 1c to 7c.

CRH enjoyed the biggest gain of the day, climbing 19c to 14.27. Elan also did well, moving up 16c to 7.34.

There were heavy losses for Tullow Oil (down 18c to 14.54), Paddy Power (down 30c to 35) and Irish Continental Group (down 45c to 15.76).
