Minister Ring: Holiday at home for sake of the country
Junior Minister for Tourism Michael Ring has issued a direct appeal for people to consider a holiday in Ireland this year.
It follows a Newstalk survey of 810 listeners, which showed fewer than 40% of us believe the country is becoming a cheaper holiday destination.
Despite the downturn, 80% are planning to take a break this year, with almost two thirds of those set to spend their holiday abroad.
Just under 30% of people will take a 'staycation' in Ireland.
Minister of State for Tourism Michael Ring said: "I'm asking them for the sake of the country...We never had a better product in the country…People will be surprised, we've a great product at a very reasonable price."
