Transport and tourism plan 'to generate 1,200 jobs': Varadkar

Minister for Transport and Tourism Leo Varadkar has said the Government aims to create up 1,200 jobs by funding road repairs, reducing VAT for the tourism sector, and investing in sustainable public transport.

The measures will be contained in the Government's jobs initiative to be published this evening in the Dáil.

Speaking ahead of the announcement, Minister Varadkar said the plan would involve a €60m fund to repair roads damaged during the severe winter weather last year, and a further €15m for transport projects.

He said the investment would provide a significant boost to job creation.
