Yorkshire Building Society has confirmed talks to merge with rival Norwich & Peterborough as it continues to snap up smaller UK mutuals.

Yorkshire Building Society has confirmed talks to merge with rival Norwich & Peterborough as it continues to snap up smaller UK mutuals.

The deal will see Bradford-based Yorkshire - the UK's second-biggest building society - add around another 477,000 customers and 46 branches to its existing network.
