Union recommends acceptance of Eircom savings plan
The Communications Workers’ Union is recommending its members accept the terms of Eircom's costsaving plan.
The company wants to save €92m over three years.
The CWU's National Executive Council says it is "reluctantly" advising workers to accept the scheme.
If given the green light, the first stage of the plan would be reducing staff hours to just nine days per fortnight - leading to a 10% drop in workers' wages.
Commenting on the developments, Paul Donovan, CEO eircom said: “Following very constructive discussions with the Trade Union Alliance, I am pleased that an ‘in principle agreement’ has been reached.
“This plan is a vital next step in the company’s transformation journey to secure the future of the organisation.”
