Recruitment website RecruitIreland.com has been temporarily disabled following a data breach in which users’ names and email addresses were accessed by spammers.

Users receiving spam emails were advised not to reply, or comply with any requests for information such as bank account details.

The company said access to the website was shut down immediately following awareness of the breach, and relevant authorities including the Data Protection Commissioner and gardaí were informed.

“We take this incident and any attempted breach of our database extremely seriously,” said a spokesperson, adding that it was being investigated both internally and externally.

“We are doing everything necessary to have the website back up and running securely as soon as possible.”
