The FTSE 100 Index ended on a Christmas high today after a last-minute rally saw the main London market close past the symbolic 6000 mark.

The FTSE 100 Index ended on a Christmas high today after a last-minute rally saw the main London market close past the symbolic 6000 mark.

The Footsie closed 12.85 points higher at 6008.92 – repeating yesterday’s last minute push past the psychologically important level, which had not been reached since early June 2008.
