Nanny charged with bid to poison Ann Summers boss

A nanny has been charged with attempting to poison Ann Summers boss Jacqueline Gold by contaminating her food with screen wash.

Allison Cox, 33, was hired by the underwear tycoon – reputed to be worth £180m (€211.8m) – to look after her child Scarlett at her mansion in Whyteleafe, Surrey.

The allegations came to light after Ms Gold, 50, became concerned about the taste of food prepared by her chef, The Sun reported.

A Surrey police spokeswoman confirmed that Cox from East Grinstead, West Sussex, was charged on December 17 with three counts of administering poison with intent to annoy.

“The charges relate to allege contaminated food consumed at an address in Whyteleafe,” she explained.

Cox is due to appear at South East Surrey Magistrates’ Court in Redhill on January 5, the spokeswoman said.
