AIB shares fall almost 20%
AIB shares tumbled 8c to €0.32 on the ISEQ exchange today, a drop of 19.75%.
The fall followed news of the Government's further €3.7bn capital injection into the ailing bank, taking the State's shareholding to 49.9% and meaning effective nationalisation. The bank's shares will be delisted from the main ISEQ exchange in January.
The overall index fell 3.57 points to 2,881.87, a drop of 0.12%.
Also among the fallers were CRH, down 17c to €15.65; Glanbia, falling 5c to €3.45; Smurfit Kappa, down 8c to €7.29, and Irish Life & Permanent, 4c off at €0.95.
Among the risers, Elan Corp added 19c to €4.70 and Paddy Power was up 47c to €30.80.
