Major shops to open on St Stephen's Day

Many of the country's best-known retailers have announced they will open on St Stephen's Day this year.

Clerys, Arnotts, Brown Thomas, Debenhams and some branches of Penneys have all decided to reopen on December 26.

Retailers reported a massive drop off during the icy spell and are trying to attract consumers back as quickly as possible after Christmas.

Nigel Blow, CEO of Arnotts, says the decision was taken following last year's St Stephens Day success.
