Report reveals improvement in grocery sector

The Food and Drink Industry is calling on the Government to introduce legislation to ensure fair trading conditions in the grocery sector.

It is just one of the recommendations outlined in a report published today by the industry.

The Competitiveness Indicators Report shows that the food and drinks sector improved as a result of economy-wide deflation and exchange rate factors.

The reports also reveals signs that the sector is starting to recover, but that further improvements in cost competitiveness is needed to generate sustainable export-led growth.
