Intel posts positive Q3 results

Chipmaker Intel has reported third-quarter net profit of $3bn (€2.14bn) for the third quarter, with revenue exceeding $11bn for the first time, up 18% year-on-year.

Chipmaker Intel has reported third-quarter net profit of $3bn (€2.14bn) for the third quarter, with revenue exceeding $11bn for the first time, up 18% year-on-year.

The company reported operating income of $4.1bn and earnings per share of 52 cents.

“Intel’s third-quarter results set all-time records for revenue and operating income,” said Paul Otellini, Intel president and CEO.

“These results were driven by solid demand from corporate customers, sales of our leadership products and continued growth in emerging markets.

"Looking forward, we continue to see healthy worldwide demand for computing products of all types."

Intel employs over 4,000 people at its manufacturing campus in Leixlip as well as over 200 people at Intel Communications Europe in Shannon, Co. Clare.
