Businesses meet to discuss Govt Budget

Hundreds of business people are attending an event in Cork to discuss ways of growing their business under the shadow of the looming Budget.

Those at CorkMeet have said the important thing for the Government to do is to restore confidence to allow spending to resume.

The event takes place on the day the Cabinet meets again to discuss its four-year budgetary strategy with cuts and tax increases all on the agenda.

Conor Healy, chief executive of the Cork Chamber of Commerce, suspects the growth of green shoots that had been emerging may have been somewhat stunted recently.
