The London market was given a boost today after consumer goods giant Unilever struck a £2.3bn (€2.7bn) deal to buy American haircare firm Alberto Culver.

The London market was given a boost today after consumer goods giant Unilever struck a £2.3bn (€2.7bn) deal to buy American haircare firm Alberto Culver.

The firm behind household products such as Dove, Pond's and Vaseline looks to be adding V05, TRESemme and Simple soap to its brands.
