Lenihan to meet EU finance ministers

The Finance Minister Brian Lenihan is meeting his EU counterparts in Brussels this morning.

The Council of Economic and Finance Ministers meeting follows Brian Lenihan's discussions with Europe's head of competition Joaquin Almunia.

Mr Lenihan is understood to have asked the EU to allow the State to guarantee large coroporate deposits in Anglo Irish Bank as it embarks on a wind-down of the institution.
