The National Treasury Management Agency will today try to raise €600m for the Exchequer in a bond auction.

It is hoped it will help restore confidence in the country's finances, after Ireland's credit rating was downgraded by a major agency this week.

Standard and Poors cut Ireland's rating down to AA-, in a move criticised by the NTMA.
