Ireland would have fared much worse in the economic crisis had it not been a member of the European Union, according to analysis by the National Economic and Social Council (NESC).

Ireland would have fared much worse in the economic crisis had it not been a member of the European Union, according to analysis by the National Economic and Social Council (NESC).

The group also said that the Government must accept greater EU surveillance of its policies in order for Ireland to be a successful member of the eurozone.
