Pfizer, which earlier this year announced its plans to lay off hundreds of Irish workers and sell off three of its plants here, today reported net income of $2.475bn in the second quarter of the year.

Pfizer, which earlier this year announced its plans to lay off hundreds of Irish workers and sell off three of its plants here, today reported net income of $2.475bn in the second quarter of the year.

The company, which is a major employer in Cork where it makes Lipitor and Viagra, said that income for the same period last year was $2.261bn.
