Irish banks expected to pass stress tests

Bank of Ireland and AIB are expected to pass European stress tests today, as part of a check-up on 91 banks across the EU.

Authorities are trying to boost confidence in the region's leading banks.

They want to know whether the institutions have enough capital to survive further shocks to the financial system.

The Committee of European Banking Supervisors is due to publish a breakdown of the results later today.
