The closure of Irish airspace due to the volcanic ash cloud from Iceland led to a drop in people visiting Ireland in April.

CSO figures released today show a drop of over 151,000 in visitors here, compared to April 2009, a fall of almost 25%.

Meanwhile, Irish people made fewer trips abroad in April, down almost 28% on the same month in 2009.
