Beleaguered BP chief pulls out of conference

Embattled BP chief executive Tony Hayward last night cancelled plans for his first public appearance in the UK since the Gulf of Mexico disaster.

Mr Hayward had been due to address national oil companies and energy ministers at a conference in London this morning.
