Vehicle production soars in UK
Car and commercial vehicle (CV) production roared ahead in Britain last month compared with May 2009, it was announced today.
A total of 104,365 cars were produced in the UK in May 2010 – a 54% rise on the same month last year, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) said.
CV production totalled 10,745 last month – rising a massive 129% on May 2009 when the industry was still suffering from a deep recession.
UK engine production was up 35.9% last month compared with May 2009.
