He replaces Enda Connellan, who is set for retirement. O’Reilly will take up his appointment in early August 2010.

He also held the role of group business development manager of Portroe’s parent company, Doyle Shipping Group, during that time.
Dublin Port Company chairperson Lucy McCaffrey said: “The board is pleased to appoint a leader with the experience and skills to ensure Dublin Port Company continues to play its important role in driving economic growth at the heart of the economy.
“Dublin Port Company has been transformed in recent years and is in excellent shape for the future as it confidently faces into the challenges ahead.
“Mr. O’Reilly will develop and implement the company’s strategic plan which will result in strong commercial growth and continued profitability for Ireland’s principal port.”
