A shortage of properties on the market continued to push British house prices higher during May, figures showed today.

A shortage of properties on the market continued to push British house prices higher during May, figures showed today.

The average cost of a UK home rose by 0.5% during the month to stand at £169,162 (€202,294), according to Nationwide.
