US Treasury Secretary in Europe to discuss austerity measures

The US Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner is in Europe today to put pressure on leaders for united action on the deepening debt crisis.

Investors are not convinced that austerity measures being taken by several eurozone members, or even the €750bn crisis fund for the single currency, will be enough to prevent Europe from derailing global recovery.

Mr Geithner will hold meetings in London before heading to Germany for meetings with the President of the European Central Bank and Germany's Finance Minister.
