The FTSE 100 Index struggled to regain its poise today as fears over Greek debt contagion continued to hang over equity markets worldwide.

The Footsie stood 31.3 points down at 5379.7 on top of the 2.6% drop seen yesterday, although it pulled back from earlier losses of more than 45 points.
