FTSE ends lower after jittery day

The London market was struck by more tremors today as uncertainty continued over Greece’s debt crisis.

The FTSE 100 Index clawed back losses of more than 60 points at one stage to end the day 16.9 points lower at 5586.6 as gains for commodities firms helped offset some of the losses elsewhere.
