Kerry Group set to sell Dawn Dairies milk business in Galway
Arrabawn Co-op has confirmed that it has agreed in principle with Kerry Group to purchase the Dawn Dairies milk business in Galway.
Arrabawn has entered into a 30-day consultation process with employee representatives of Dawn Dairies. to discuss the transfer of the business.
The chairman of Arrabawn, Michael Flaherty, said the Arrabawn and Dawn milk collection and milk sales operations overlap geographically and rationalising the businesses will lead to significant savings and gains to be made.
The increased throughput at their Kilconnel plant will lead to more jobs there offset by the loss of some jobs in service areas where there is overlap and duplication
Mr Flaherty confirmed that the consultation process is due to be completed by May 18 and at that time the Dawn Dairies employees will transfer to become employees of Arrabawn Co-op.
