New boss for Boots Ireland

Boots Ireland has appointed Debbie Smith as the new managing director of the company.

Smith has spent the last 23 years working with Boots, starting as an in-store pharmacist after completing her BSc (Hons) in pharmacy from the University of Sunderland.

“This is a challenging time for retailers, but it is an exciting time for Boots Ireland as we continue our expansion plans.

"We currently have 55 stores, and in the coming months we will be announcing details of further store and pharmacy openings, creating hundreds of new jobs," said Smith.
