An Irish oil and gas company have announced its to begin drilling for oil off the coast of Dublin.

An Irish oil and gas company have announced its to begin drilling for oil off the coast of Dublin.

Providence Resources hopes the Dalkey Island prospect could contain 870 million barrels of oil.

The prospect is in shallow water close to the shore, in the Kish Bank basin.

Providence has a 50% share in a licence covering the basin.
