US stimulus package creates 2.1 million jobs
The massive US stimulus package aimed at blunting the worst recession there in 70 years, created up to 2.1 million jobs in the final three months of 2009.
A report from the US Congressional Budget Office claims the $787bn package boosted the American economy by 3.5% and lowered the unemployment rate by up to 2.1% in the final quarter of last year.
The report comes as President Barack Obama pushes for further measures to bring down the US jobless rate before November's congressional elections.
