Ocean deal 'could create thousands of jobs'

A Cork-based energy company has signed a major deal with a US multi-national, which could see more than 6,000 jobs created across the country in the wave-energy sector.

Ocean Energy has struck a deal with US multinational Dresser-Rand to "significantly develop wave energy in Ireland".

The deal will bring the generation of commercial quantities of electricity from wave power one step closer.

Director of Ocean Energy is John McCarthy: "This has huge job potential…in terms of the Government's ocean energy strategy."
