Ryanair traffic up 9% in January, 25 new routes announced

Ryanair today announced a 9% rise in passenger numbers for January 2010, carrying 4.44m passengers in the month compared to 4.08m in January 2009.

Load factor for the month was 70%, a marginal increase of 1% year-on-year.

The low-fares airline also today announced further expansion throughout Europe with the introduction of 25 new routes to/from Alicante (1), Barcelona Reus (5), Barcelona Girona (1), Bratislava (3), Bristol (2), Cork (7), East Midlands (2), London Stansted (3), Milan Bergamo (2) and Pescara (1) from April/May next.

“Ryanair continues to develop great new routes so that passengers can beat the recession by flying at Ryanair’s guaranteed lowest fares and no fuel surcharges to exciting destinations all over Europe," spokesperson Stephen McNamara said.

"Ryanair will continue to grow as other airlines pull routes and reduce capacity."
