iPhone microchip firm ARM Holdings posted a 4% drop in pre-tax profits before exceptional items of £96.8m (€110.75m) in the year to December 31.

The firm, which has offices in Blackburn, Cambridge, Maidenhead and Sheffield, said it expects the semiconductor market to improve in 2010.
