Consumer confidence in Britain has increased for the third quarter in a row as people feel more positive about their job prospects and finances, research showed today.

However, half of people think the UK will still be in recession at the end of this year, and 70% are adjusting their spending in order to save money, according to the Nielsen-British Retail Consortium consumer confidence survey.
