Monaghan food firm to shed 36 jobs
Some 36 people are to be made redundant from Rye Valley foods in Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan, it emerged today.
The business focuses on the frozen ready meal sector for the UK market.
In a statement, the company confirmed that it is looking for 30 redundancies from the production side of the firm immediately.
A spokesperson for the business also said they are also looking for an additional six redundancies in the management, administration and customer services divisions.
Redundancy packages will be agreed with staff.
It is understood the decision is due to the need to maintain competitiveness in the challenging sector and the depreciation of sterling.
