It is understood tomorrow's deadline for bids for Swedish car manufacturer SAAB has been extended by a week.

At least 3,400 jobs in Sweden would be lost if SAAB shuts down, but parent company General Motors is still in talks with potential buyers.

Loss-making Spyker - which made just 43 luxury cars last year - lodged a new offer to buy the company on December 20.
