Endesa looking to cut workforce
Spanish energy giant Endesa said it has entered into negotiations with unions to reduce the workforce at its power plant in Tarbert, north Kerry, from 90 to 55.
Endesa management said the company was also looking at reducing the number of employees at its plant in Co Wexford.
The company is blaming an increase in competition in the south-west region and a decrease in the reduction in the demand for electricity.
Sinn Féin TD for Kerry North Martin Ferris said there was no political commitment demonstrated by the Government with regard to bringing jobs into the region.
