Firms close to finalising Carry Out takeover deal
Cork drinks distribution firm Barry & Fitzwilliam and Dublin company Comans Wholesale are close to concluding a deal for the takeover of a franchise which has 52 off-licences nationwide.
The Carry Out franchise is currently owned by Galvin’s Wines whose parent company Galvin’s Wholesale Ltd., victim of a fraud, was unable to meet a Revenue bill of €6m.
The company supplied drinks to an agent for delivery to France and Romania, but the goods never reached their destination despite the company being given delivery documents. They turned out to be forged.
Michael Barry of Barry and Fitzwilliam confirmed the negotiations were at an advanced stage.
He expected them to be concluded by the end of the week.
The negotiations were being done through accountancy firm Deloitte.
